Investing in 25 more years on the Snorre field – PDO for the Snorre Expansion Project submitted to the Norwegian authorities.

The investment will increase the recovery from the Snorre field by close to 200 million barrels and extend the production from the field until at least 2040.

Snorre Expansion Project is the largest improved oil recovery project (IOR) on the NCS. The project involves comprehensive subsea development, upgrading of the Snorre A installation and increased gas injection.

“Snorre Expansion has been a challenging project, but working closely together in the partnership and with suppliers, it has been possible to arrive at a good concept and I am happy to see that the project is now finally being realized", says Hiroshi Arikawa, Managing Director of Idemitsu Petroleum Norge.

"Furthermore, considering the fact that Snorre originally was expected to last until 2011-2014, the Snorre Expansion Project will significantly add valuable long term production to Idemitsu", Mr. Arikawa says.

Snorre Expansion Project plans to start production in 2021, and will be operated and maintained by Statoil’s existing Snorre organization in Stavanger, while suppliers will be handled by Fjordbase in Florø as today.
